Nkem DenChukwu is a bonafide creative writer, an award-winning author, a film producer, a woman whose strength is anchored on God, and a mother of four. She delved into the arts of filmmaking and creative writing in 2012, and has thirteen independent films & eleven inspirational books under her belt since then. Nkem was named the 2019 Houston Literary Award Recipient by the Houston Public Library Foundation “Reader’s Choice Winner.” Nkem advocates for battered women, men, & children, and continues to promote awareness about mental illness and suicide prevention through written and spoken words. She strongly believes that everyone was born with a purpose to fulfill. Her comments have been published in the June 2015, May 2016, July 2017, November 2019, and February 2020 Editions of Oprah Winfrey Magazine. She has also been featured in Forbes (digital edition) in 2018 as well as multiple times on FOX 26 News, ABC 13, CBS 11, NBC 2, Great Day Houston, Isiah Factor Uncensored, Voice of America, and Houston Chronicle.
Nkem has a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Networking, but her first love is in the arts. She constantly uses her skills, voice, and experiences to empower, educate, inform, inspire, and nurture the young especially, and the not-so young. She also enjoys gourmet cooking and taking still photography.
